Misery At The Meadowlands

Mia Harris

I'm still trying to wrap my hands around how the Jets lost to the Dolphins 30-25 on Sunday. Well, I guess when Ted Ginn Jr ran two kickoffs back for touchdowns in the 3rd quarter you had a feeling that this might not have been the Jets day. He returned one for 100 and the other 101 yards; the first time someone has returned two kickoffs in a quarter in over 40 years. And the first time in NFL history someone has had two kickoff returns for 100+ yards in a game. The first was the result of a number of missed tackles and poor special teams play while the second was just sick. Flat out SICK.

The numbers are staggering. The Jets outgained the Dolphins 378 to 104. Thomas Jones ran for 102 yards. Mark Sanchez completed 20 of 35 passes for 265 and 2 touchdowns plus he ran for one. The Jets had 6 sacks to Miami's 2. They had 23 first downs to the Fins 10. Time of possession was 34:06 to 25:54. The numbers go on and on. But all that matters is the scoreboard and Gang Green ended up on the losing end of it and now head into the bye week at 4-4. We talked to Jones.

The Jets had a chance to comeback and win it in the 4th. But Sanchez threw incomplete as he was looking for Dustin Keller on 4th and 13 from the Miami 15 with 1:06 to play. The play before was the killer when Mark was sacked for a 7 yard loss.

So the Fins sweep the season series and there was no payback from the Week 5 loss in Miami. That game was a defensive breakdown in the 4th quarter whereas this one a special teams debacle in the 3rd. You are left wondering if this team can seem to ever put it all together in one game? (when they are not playing the Raiders that is)

Oh I almost forgot. Best part of the post game...if there could be one because it was pretty sad down in the locker room. Bart Scott was asked about the game and the loss...Miami...etc.

Yes, Dolphins at 3-4...best team around...going to the Super Bowl. Best offense maybe ever...104 yards...please!!!! Thanks Bart...funny stuff. Tragically humorous...like this loss for the Jets.

Good times.
