A wild weekend in the NY sports scene. For the second time this year, just the third time in the last 25 years, the Giants and Jets played at the same time. The Giants in Philadelphia and the Jets were home looking to avenge an early season loss to the Dolphins. Well, the football games didn’t go as scripted, but the Yankees made up for that in a big way, a VERY big way...Plus, an update that was missing something, a common thread between Boomer and ARod, a couple of stinkers, today marks another ‘Good Day’ in NY, Chris Christie checks in and an obvious Moment...
With the Giants and the Jets both facing off against division rivals and the Yankees playing in the World Series, it would be an understatement to say it was a big weekend for sports in the Metropolitan area. So we won’t say it…Well, the Giants got thumped by the Eagles in Philadelphia and a second half shootout broke out in the Meadowlands between the Jets and the Dolphins; that ended badly for Gang Green, which brings us to the Bombers. The Yanks entered last night’s World Series Game 4 leading the defending Champion Phillies 2-1 and CC Sabathia took the ball on just three days rest. After falling behind 4-2, the Phillies hit a couple of solo home runs to tie it up in the bottom of the 8th inning. Then in the top of the 9th inning Brad Lidge took the mound for the Phillies, quickly recorded two outs and had Johnny Damon down to his final strike. From there it pains me to chronicle the rest of the happenings, I’ll sum it up by saying...Someone cover third base!!!!! Anyway, the stage was set for Alex Rodriguez to become a hero and he did just that. Jorge Posada tacked on two more runs for good measure and Mariano Rivera closed the door and the Yanks now lead the Phils 3-1 in the Series. The Phillies will turn to Cliff Lee, as the Yankees will count on AJ Burnett, who will be pitching on three days’ rest…
As you probably know by now, Craig fancies himself quite a prognosticator, so prior to Jerry’s first update of the program, Eddie played a cut of Craigie predicting the Yankees would win the Series in five games when he was on Fox 5’s Good Day NY last week. With the Yanks currently holding a 3-1 lead in the Series, he was feeling pretty good about his prediction. Allow me to remind him and the rest of you Yankee fans for that matter, it’s not easy to kill the heart of a Champion, and that is exactly what the Phillies are, Champions…Until proven otherwise…
This next story is an interesting one to say the least. Apparently a jilted former lover of Alex Rodriguez has spilled the beans on a fetish of sorts the Yankees third baseman has. It involves a couple of painted portraits of Rodriguez that she saw hanging on the walls of one of his homes during their time together. The twist to this story is that in the portraits, ARod is depicted as a centaur. Ya’ can’t make it up folks, nor would you want to…
Sure the Yankees won a dramatic Game 4 last night in Philadelphia, but before that happened, the Giants and the Jets stunk it up on the gridiron. Lucky for the local football teams, the Bombers victory casted a welcomed shadow over the two poor performances, so Boomer and Craig decided to shed some light on the situation...
Here is a question for you, is there really such a thing as ‘too much of a good thing’?? Well the people over at the Fox 5 Good Day NY Show certainly don’t think so, as they came calling again this morning looking to get Boomer and Craig’s take on the Yankees-Phillies. The guys joined Rosanna Scotto and Greg Kelly and eventually, after Craig got his ADD under control, the four of them talked a little baseball…
Then, with the New Jersey gubernatorial election being held tomorrow, Republican hopeful Chris Christie called up to make a final pitch to the people. He is running against Democrat, Jon Corzine, who is looking for his second term. The guys talked some sports with Christie and eventually mixed in a little politics...
Jerry Recco got off to a great start for the week with regards to his highly anticipated Moment of the Day. Today's selection centered around Alex Rodriguez's apparent facination with centaur's...
